A Love that burns slow

A love that doesn’t burn, but smokes all the time

Is the kind of love about which most poets don’t rhyme

Its passion is subdued and its fires seems to be gone

But still, it burns slowly and keeps going on

This is the kind of love that goes on forever

It doesn’t fight the tides but sails with them however

This is not the kind of love for which ballads are written about

But it is the kind of love the world can’t do without

It’s slow and steady like a soft musical note

A warm evening of drink or an afternoon of nothing

Of times with friends and of times alone

Not always happy but still going strong

This love is like a tree, it grows slowly and for long

It takes years and years to reach its true form

It shares its shade with all those around

And its roots are strong to weather any storm
